Maintenance of oiled wooden and parquet floors
- Daily maintenance
Daily cleaning should be carried out using normal dry cleaning methods: dry brushing or using a vacuum cleaner. All loose dirt that can scratch and damage the floor must be carefully removed from the floor.
- Updating the floor
The floor must be treated with Oil Refresher once a week or as needed. When using Oil Refresher on oiled floors, the dilution instructions must be followed carefully. To refresh, use a fringe brush that is slightly moistened with the Oil Refresher solution, but in no case wet, because parquet floors are sensitive to moisture and can be damaged. Rinsing is not necessary. If there is a water stain on the floor that has not been removed quickly, it can be removed later using undiluted Oil Refresher.
- Maintenance oiling
The frequency of maintenance oiling depends on the load on the floors. In intensively used places (for example, floors and corridors of public buildings), maintenance oiling should be done 4 times a year. Maintenance oiling is performed 1-2 times a year or when the need arises in less frequented places (for example, living spaces). The first maintenance oiling can be done no earlier than 1 month after the main oiling.
- Work progress
First, clean the floor carefully from loose dirt and dust. Then wash using Parquet Cleaner Arboritec for oiled floors. The cleaning agent must be diluted with water, carefully following the dilution instructions. It is good and convenient to use an ordinary fringe brush as a working tool. The brush must be damp, not wet, when cleaning. Before applying maintenance oil to the floor, the floor must be allowed to dry completely.
Apply Maintenance Oil to the floor using a low-speed (150 rpm) polishing machine and a white or red polishing felt disc. For a lightly soiled floor, use a blue polishing felt disc, and for medium and heavily soiled floors, a brown or black polishing felt disc, respectively. Process no more than 10-20 at a time m² of floor area. The spread Maintenance Oil maintenance oil must be allowed to act on the surface for approximately 2-3 minutes, and then start treating the surface with the selected polishing felt disc. If the floor becomes dry quickly, you must definitely add Maintenance Oil maintenance oil. When all the dirt on the treated surface (dirty liquid oil) has come off the floor it must be removed using a cotton lint-free cloth from the floor.
After that, Maintenance Oil must be applied to the surface again and the maintenance oil must be worked into the floor using a red polishing pad or a soft brush. The surface must be treated with a polishing machine and a red felt disc until the maintenance oil has nicely penetrated the floor. For the final polishing, a white polishing felt disc must be used, which leaves a beautiful silky sheen on the surface. A white polishing pad can also be used to remove excess oil from the floor. After that, do not walk on the floor for 12 hours.
NB! FLOORS TREATED WITH DIFFERENT OILS AND OIL WAXES ALSO HAVE DIFFERENT METHODS AND TOOLS FOR MAINTENANCE.
